COSRX Centella Blemish Cream is definitely one of this brand’s most popular creams. But is it overhyped? Read this review to find out my personal opinion. I purchased this product with the hope of diminishing dark traces left on by acne, and my reaction is mixed.
Like most COSRX products, the design on the container is simple: white with mint green accents. It comes with a paper packaging of similar design, where instructions and warnings are detailed. Containing around 1.05 oz of product, this may last me for more than a year since not much is used every session.
The product claims to do three things. Firstly, it claims to soothe irritation. Secondly, it claims to prevent acne scars from appearing during a breakout. Thirdly, it also claims to decrease redness. Now the last one isn’t a core concern of mine, since my skin-tone is dark. However, the former two reasons were definitely core concerns.
On the first claim, this product performs perfectly. Whenever I experience irritation, I take a small amount and cover the specific area and it serves me fine. However, the second claim hasn’t quite delivered. Though I did see decreases in dull spots after applying, they don’t seem to totally go away. Alongside, an unfortunate effect is occasional itchiness; it is subtle and not a big issue personally, but it is indeed present.
There are some specific restrictions on this product. Firstly, it can be only used as a night cream since it leaves a white cast. Secondly, it’s not recommended to be used without a moisturizer as it may have a drying effect. Personally, these restrictions are good enough for me, since I use it as spot treatment before bedtime.
The star ingredient is Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, which is great for sensitive skin. Most other ingredients are quite safe as well, however it may not be suitable for people with fungal acne, so make sure to check the ingredients list before commencing: https://cosmily.com/products/cosrx-centella-blemish-cream
This product may not be the holy grail in my regimen, but it does perform very well, hence I have decided to repurchase it once it runs out. Definitely a good bang for your buck!
