#1 solvent in many skincare and haircare products. Usually, creams contain 40 - 70% of water, while toners and micellar water may have up to 90%. It's a neutral component itself, but it's a very important part of a product.

One of the best-known humectants. It helps to hydrate skin very fast, but the effect doesn't last too long. That's why some people may feel dryness after 3 - 4 hours and have to re-apply skincare products once again. Works even in low concentrations but becomes very effective at 10 - 40% concentration. It's used in cosmetics for more than 50 years and it is researched very well. A great component to counter dryness!

Glycerin

The most commonly used formula of Vitamin E in cosmetics. Do not confuse it with pure Tocopherol. Tocopheryl Acetate isn't as effective as Tocopherol, but it&rsquo;s more stable. It's a very good antioxidant.

It temporarily fills small fine lines and wrinkles hiding them and making your skin look better. In hair care products it's used as hair conditioning component. It smoothes the hair and gives them a very pleasant silky gloss. It protects the hair from aggressive surfactants like SLS.

Sodium PCA

Citric acid belongs to alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). It's a good exfoliant. It helps to get rid of dead skin cells and thus to prevent acne. It&rsquo;s not as effective as glycolic or lactic acids but still, it's a nice ingredient in a product.
